Young men describe themselves as "involuntarily celibate" - part of websites and blogs where men express opinions about issues concerning contemporary masculinity and male relationships with women, especially those associated with views that are hostile to feminism and women's rights: closely tied to a hatred of women.

In some cases, the philosophy has moved offline with deadly consequences.

Involuntary celibates, or “incels,” are a sub-culture of men who feel totally excluded from the mating market.

Their main grievance is with women’s ability to choose their own sexual partners.

They are typically men who think they have been victimized by feminism.
