Episode 21: Power of Music: Musicians Messages of Hope

This episode includes some amazing individuals who strive to help those who are suffering from substance abuse issues.'

Bob Forrest is a musician who is best known for his work with the Los Angeles bands Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief. Bob, a recovering drug addict, has worked for years as a recovery advocate and is the Co-Founder of Alo House Recovery Centers where he helps others overcome their drug addictions. He is also a drug counselor, appearing alongside Dr. Drew Pinsky on Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.

Wes Geer is best known as a founding member of the band Hed PE, formed in 1994 in Huntington Beach, CA. He also toured with nu metal band Korn. In December 2012, Wes Geer started Rock to Recovery, to provide music therapy for addicts. Recovering addicts, victims of abuse, and troubled teens have the opportunity to express themselves through songs that are written by the participants in each session. In 2016, the Department of Defense granted Rock to Recovery an official contract, to work with the Air Force and Army Wounded Warriors.

Clinton Calton has been part of the Orange County music scene for decades and is most notably known as the guitarist for “O.C. Punk Rock Band, D.I.” He has toured extensively, and recorded/produced music with many other artist such as: KMK, Ronnie King, Jack Grisham, Angelo Moore, as well as scoring soundtracks for film. From an early age, and going hand in hand with a lifestyle that he thought was part of being a musician, he was drinking and doing drugs. That lifestyle choice took its toll and in the end was no longer a choice. He was given a chance to enter a rehab in 2004 and has been sober since. He works today with Rock to Recovery.

Jeremy Jackson: is an American actor and singer. He is best known for his role as Hobie Buchannon on the television show Baywatch. Jackson was introduced to music by David Hasselhoff, who starred in Baywatch, on which Jackson appeared. Jackson later supported Hasselhoff on his 1993 European tour and Jackson was signed to Edel Records by Peter Lopez. Jeremy struggled with substance abuse and after many problems including arrests, he got clean and helps others that are struggling with those same issues.
