Do Drug Abusers Deserve to Die? Policy Makers Determine Who Lives and Who Dies?

Do we not advocate for lives? Our politicians determine who lives and who dies. I am told what I can put in my body and what I can’t. I am allowed to drink alcohol which kills more people every year than all illicit drugs combined.

Harm reduction has been extremely controversial, and I remember back in the late 90’s and into 2000, 2001; it wasn’t really a thing. There was methadone but as a meth abuser; we didn’t have alternatives. Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use. Harm Reduction is also a movement for social justice built on a belief in, and respect for, the rights of people who use drugs.

The central goal of alcohol policy is to reduce the harm to the individual and society while drug policy is to punish and increase harm to individuals and society. I have lots of ideas that I can come up with that can help the situation in this free country we live in. But freedom to do what I feel best is based on what we are told freedom means by our policy makers.

Walk a Mile in My shoes is an open discussion trying to bring the world together by understanding each other. We want to walk a mile in your shoes and hoping you can walk a mile in our shoes. I agree that a mile is a long walk but maybe we can learn to love instead of hate.
