Our Country is F$#%ed Up. Drug Use Creates Hate but are Drug Abusers at Fault For the Hate
Part 1 of a two part series that may surprise our viewers. Drug laws in this country were hypothetically created to reduce crime, murder, and health issues, but sometimes what people see as the solution brings about unintended consequences which are then put upon the people that the very solution was created to eradicate.
The 50 year anniversary of the drug war enacted by Nixon has been estimated to cost over $50 Billion dollars a year and cumulatively about a trillion dollars. That doesn’t even account for the cost of incarceration and state or city things. What are the differences between the consequences of the 18th amendment to eliminate the manufacture, production, and distribution of alcohol and its consequences versus the drug war today. Much of the reason that we continue our drug war today is the same reason we repealed the 18th amendment as that was considered a mistake and caused more harm than good.
Why does history fail to teach us lessons despite agendas people have for personal gain. Does it seem fair that our government provides drugs to our citizens and then turns around and makes that same drug illegal once people have a taste for it and find it is enjoyable. The main reason as the players who forged these laws weren't concerned about the drug but instead the users of the drugs. Nixon and Reagan, clearly heard in audio had racist ideas and consequences for minorities were impacted the hardest although there is no evidence that whites and blacks used more or less than each other. Why did Reagan push the drug wart and George Bush admit on television to setting aside money specifically for targeting low income housing which led to the disparity between sentencing of black and white citizens.
Walk a Mile in My shoes is an open discussion trying to bring the world together by understanding each other. We want to walk a mile in your shoes and hoping you can walk a mile in our shoes. I agree that a mile is a long walk but maybe we can learn to love instead of hate.
